Storm Hits Children of Mary Complex - June 29th, 2012
The storm that blew through Ohio on Friday, June 29th, did a tremendous amount of damage to the trees at the Children of Mary land - many trees fell onto the lane, but the Sisters, with some help from retreatants and neighbors, were able to clear the lane so they could go to Saturday Mass. They worked very hard to get the trees off the lane, but thanks be to God, none of the buildings were damaged, and the Sisters are all okay! They will need a lot of help cleaning up the mess, though, so if you have a chain saw . . . !
Pictures from Sisters' Trip to International Eucharistic Congress 2012
Our trip to Ireland began when we felt the Lord calling us to Ireland after reading about the suffering of the Church in Ireland, that in the upcoming International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin there would be the unveiling of the Healing Stone, a monument to the victims of sexual abuse by priests. We had a great desire to go and encourage them in their time of suffering.
We spent the week before the Eucharistic Congress in Sligo. Angela McMorrow arranged places for us to stay and together with Canon Tom Hever and Fr. Pat Lombard, from the Sligo Cathedral, arranged for us to visit and give talks at three schools, a parish council, parents' meeting and visit a local nursing home. We also held a ComeUnity Conference in which over 100 people attended. The Lord brought many special people into our lives and into our hearts.
The Sligo Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception has had a perpetual adoration chapel for about 30 years. The Chapel was beautiful, filled with grace and always full of adorers!
On Friday June 8th, the Cathedral held a special 24 hours of adoration for the success of the Eucharistic Congress in which the Sisters led three of the holy hours.
We were blessed to meet the Bishop of Elphin, the diocese where Sligo is located. Most Rev Christopher Jones was so hospitable and warm to us. He has the spirit of a true father, a true shepherd. We will continue to keep him in our prayers and ask you to as well!
We made a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. We also visited the Holy Well - where Catholics attended Mass in secret at the risk of losing their lives during the penal days. We also visited a small island with the ruins of an old Church and an abandoned cemetery where St. Patrick was said to have stayed.
The first day of the Eucharistic Congress began on the Feast of Corpus Christi! There was a beautiful Mass and thousands of people who attended. After Holy Mass we were blessed to meet the new Papal Nuncio for Ireland, Archbishop Charles Brown. We were very impressed with him and his loving kindness. He gave us his blessing and we assured him of our prayers. Please join us as we pray for Archbishop Charles Brown as he assists the Church of Ireland in regaining its strength and vigor.
During the week of the Eucharistic Congress, the sisters stayed with a lovely family in Balbriggan. Brian and Teresa Oates were wonderful hosts! They were so gracious and made our trip hassle-free by arranging our travel, packing our lunches, sharing their home and their lives with us. The sisters also attended Teresa's weekly prayer group. We thank the Oates for all they did for us!
The 50th International Eucharistic Congress ended with Holy Mass, where over 80,000 people attended! We pray for the Eucharistic Reign of Jesus and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Ireland and in every soul!

The sign in front of the Crucifix reads "Two were crucified with Jesus. One blasphemed Him. The other turned to Him with love. Suffering is part of each person's life. We each have a choice: grow bitter or turn to Jesus and hear Him say, 'You will be with Me in Paradise.'"

Conference of Eucharistic Adoration
The Catholic Times recently published an article about the Conference of Eucharistic Adoration in Rome to which the Children of Mary were invited to give a workshop.
Article from Catholic Time:
The sisters of the Children of Mary community in Newark were invited to give a workshop at the International Conference of Eucharistic Adoration in Rome from June 20 to 23. The conference was hosted by Bishop Dominique Rey of Frejus-Toulon, France, and the new community he founded to promote perpetual adoration in his diocese, the Missionaries of the Most Holy Eucharist.
Speaking at the conference were five cardinals and four bishops for the purpose of promoting the desire of the magisterium of the Catholic Church to see perpetual adoration spread to parishes and dioceses around the world.
Concerning the practice of adoration, Pope Benedict XVI has written, "‘No one eats of this flesh without having first adored it,’ as St Augustine writes. Adoration outside Holy Mass prolongs and intensifies what has taken place in the liturgical celebration and makes a true and profound reception of Christ possible.
“I would like to take the opportunity to warmly recommend, to pastors and to all the faithful, the practice of Eucharistic adoration. I express my appreciation to the Institutes of Consecrated Life, as well as to the associations and confraternities that are especially dedicated to this practice. They offer to everyone a reminder of ‘Christ’s centrality in our personal and ecclesial life.’”
The Children of Mary’s charism is to help people understand that Jesus loves them and remains with them in the Holy Eucharist, and that He thirsts for them to love Him in the Most Blessed Sacrament so He can pour out His love and peace into their hearts. The sisters have an adoration chapel in rural Licking County where they welcome guests to adore Our Lord with them.
The sisters have scheduled an Ora et Labora (Pray and Work) Day at the chapel complex on Saturday, Sept. 17, and invite anyone interested in helping maintain their 100 acres of wooded land to join them. There is much to be done, including clearing brush, working in the flower and vegetable gardens, cutting fallen trees, carpentry, and painting. The day will begin with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 7:30 am and Mass at 9:00 am and end after the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 pm.
The sisters ask that participants bring chainsaws and battery-pack nail guns if they have them. Wear modest attire, no shorts. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided, or you may bring a side dish or sack lunch. For more information visit www.childrenofmary.net or call (740) 323-1977.

Sisters Return From Rome
The Adoratio 2011 International Conference on Eucharistic Adoration in Rome was the most grace-filled event we have ever attended! Everyday we heard cardinals and bishops speak about the necessity of adoring Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. Each day a different Cardinal celebrated Mass, the most beautiful, reverent and prayerful Masses you can imagine. God's presence was felt in a powerful way as about four hundred of us from around the world came together to listen, to pray, to adore and to share about Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. When we left Rome on the 24th, we felt as if we had left Mt. Tabor. This conference was a gift to the Church. A book will be published of all the talks in the upcoming months.

He offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, heard confessions, and gave two great talks about fatherhood. They had a delicious chicken dinner served by the Sisters, and then we all adored Our Eucharistic Lord enthroned on the altar. We ended with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction.
